Hip Hop Heels – Progress as a Rhythm for the Mind and Body

 

This spotlight on Hip Hop Heels is part of my celebration of the movers and shakers that make progress happen.

Hip Hop Heels is about progress as a rhythm for the mind and body.  Also known as Hip-Hop High Heels, and Hip-Hop In Heels, this dance class experience is a blend of various hip hop dance styles with the sensuality of jazz and the swag of a cardio workout.

The class is designed and presented by dancer and choreographer, Geena Ngaaje.  Geena is originally from Cameroon, West Africa, and resides in the Dallas area.   She has over 10 years of experience in dance and choreography; and her work has been featured in a variety of media and venues including being a primary dancer with the Black Eyed Peas at the Super Bowl XLV halftime show held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

 

Progress as a Rhythm for the Mind –
How would progress sound like in your mind’s ear? Would it be too fast or too slow?  Every thought about making progress in your life, when broken down into its simplest form, is really just a mental exercise aimed at making the right moves.  And making the right moves is all about confidence.  Ever wonder how a performer like Beyonce can go from being a shy teenager to commanding a stage with such power and grace while rocking some stylish high heels?  Geena may have found the answer.  Hip Hop Heels engages each participant in a way that increases confidence, session to session, beat by beat.

 

Progress as a Rhythm for the Body –
Imagine if progress were a beat, how would you dance to it? Would you be on beat or off beat?  Would you be too worried about what others think of you and fail to take action?  The fact of the matter is that we make the best impressions on others and achieve the most when we take action.  Turning our thought into action is very similar to what happens when we translate a beat into a dance move.  What participants enjoy most about the Hip Hop Heels dance class is that it gives them the opportunity to take action on their personal fitness goals.  The class is a nice way to strengthen the body’s core, as well as tone and sculpt the lower body and mid-section.

All things being equal, progress is about confidence and taking action.  Here’s a toast of fresh spring water to the movers and shakers of the world that make progress happen.
